Moving on, I really didn't give him a straight answer. Because I don't believe in mentors. The idea that someone wants to be like somebody else is just freaky. I don't know why but my opinion tends to lie on a more open perspective. I know that not believing in mentors leaves a big hole in my hole of belief (Yes, the hole of belief exists. Google it) which is why I fill it with the belief that one day, birds will take over the world. They'll make a giant catapult and hurl themselves towards humans in an angry way. Seriously. Ask the Mayans. But I probably figured that you don't give a duck about birds taking over the world.
As I was saying before gliding away (LOL), every human being has enough potential to be whatever they wanna be in life. But unlike a pack of cards, you can't shuffle up life and start all over again. Which is why one must do their best to make sure they yearn for perfection in life by chasing their dreams. I will tell you why I don't believe in mentors though. I don't like mentors because I like pyramids instead. No, seriously though, read on.
Tyler Perry is a gifted and talented film icon. His recent film "GOOD DEEDS" moved me to tears. Not that 'tears' is a neighbourhood that I moved to, it just made an emotional impact on me. Tyler plays the role of Wesley. A young CEO of a multinational company who drives a sports car and is engaged to Gabrielle Union. But Wesley is not happy with his life; not because he has herpes, NO. His health is also at peak, or at least that is what I gathered since he didn't visit a doctor during the whole film. Wesley is unhappy because he lives his father's dream. Being all that 'suck-cessful'. He wanted to become a biker and move to Africa to dig wells for the less fortunate, which he did FYI, at the end of the film right before the credits defy gravity. (I'd wanna make a dry joke here but there is a well in the previous sentence)...
What I'm getting at is that, in anyone's eye, Wesley looks like he has a perfect life. He is living the dream while in real sense he is actually leaving his dream, you know? The thing is, whatever person you look up to may look fulfilled in life and maybe that brings you to the thought that you want to be like them. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against being inspired by someone or maybe looking up to them, but I prefer maybe borrowing a few qualities from them rather than being
Living right is a matter of finding yourself, dreaming big and chasing those dreams. I know big people run slow but that's not quite the thing with dreams. The bigger a dream is, the harder it is to catch it. But you can do so in just three simple steps:
- LOOK IN - (Find it within yourself. Whatever you are good at. Your likes and ambition inclination are of key play here.)
- LOOK OUT - (Look out for opportunities available in your respective field of dream and make plans; goals are not achievable without a good plan.)
- LOOK UP - (You are NOTHING without God)
